The vice principal of a government school in Bhilwara, Rajasthan, was allegedly assaulted by locals following accusations that he was inciting students against Hindu religious practices, reported PTI.
The incident happened in the Bagore area on Friday after students complained to their parents, who then confronted vice principal Ranveer Singh Indoria at the school, according to the police.
Parents claimed that the vice principal discouraged students from maintaining religious symbols like the “choti” (hair knot) and creating images of gods. They further alleged that he told students that gods do not exist and advised them neither to make pictures of deities nor to visit temples.
When some students informed their parents, they reached the school and allegedly beat Indoria.
The police arrived at the school and rescued him. The Education Department has initiated an inquiry into the matter and has placed the vice principal under APO (awaiting posting order), an official said.
